MY STORY

Simply put, I am a connector and storyteller - especially of all things higher ed related. I also love photography, writing, and engaging in many outdoor recreational and athletic activities – and helping others do the same! I'm more of the behind-the-scenes type, although, at one point, I was in front of the camera for a university job. This included TV and radio work and social media content creation. While I loved voicing radio to tell the stories I’d written, I never really got used to being in front of the camera. However, being behind the camera, interviewing, and capturing video to help create and communicate the story is where I really thrive!

My passion lies in creating, branding, editing, and strategizing, as there’s always more to learn and try as digital content, branding, marketing, and social spaces constantly evolve.

I’m a Floridian, having grown up on the rivers, swamps, springs, and trails of the North Florida Panhandle, so yes, I'm not afraid to get dirty and work hard! My dad taught photography at Florida A&M University and took my sisters and me on most of his photographic adventures. This is where my love of storytelling, communication, arts, education, history, and nature comes from, for the most part. I was the only one of my siblings that stuck with photography and still dream about having my own darkroom one day. There's nothing like developing your own roll of film and printing photographs yourself! My mom always centered her jobs around my sisters and me growing up, but then she went back to school to finish her bachelor's and master's degrees while I was in elementary school. This profoundly influenced me, and I couldn't have been more proud of her hard work and commitment. She was among the top of her class but never once missed one of our softball games.

My family's history is steeped in education. My sisters and mom are teachers; my dad and grandfather were professors. I hope to also be able to add professor to my resume, but for now, I am more than happy to work in the marketing and communication sphere of higher education!

You can read more about me in my blog. I discuss personal and professional topics and, most often, the intersection of the two.

Please note: I strive for authentic connection and engagement, and respecting similarities and differences is paramount in the communities I'm involved in and the relationships I make.
